Network Administrator

Phoenix Health Systems, Inc., a nationally recognized healthcare IT outsourcing and consulting firm is currently seeking a Network Administrator to work at our client site in the Metairie, LA metro area.
Summary:
Functions as the administrator for all Intel-based systems including Windows, Linux, and Novell platforms and is responsible in part for the design, configuration and maintenance of that infrastructure. In addition, this administrator will be responsible for various project implementation tasks and will provide application and user support. This administrator will be placed in an on-call rotation and some periodic after-hours work will be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain security within Active Directory, Windows, Linux, and Novell environments
- Monitor network operation and performance to maximize system performance and minimize network downtime. Configure monitoring tools to send broadcast alerts to responsible system administrators
- Provide communication and support to users, the Help Desk, and IT support groups
- Provide application and vendor support
- Maintain VMWare Virtual Infrastructure components
- Maintain SAN components
- Maintain and monitors backup system to insure reliable network backups
- Maintain Groupwise email system
- Troubleshoot and repair server hardware
- Design or assist in the design of network enhancements and new technologies to be applied to the network
- Perform other tasks and duties as required
Qualifications:
- Experience administering virtualization technology is required
- Experience installing and maintaining server hardware platforms is required
- Experience administering Windows Server 2003/2008 and Active Directory is required
- A proven ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, management and customers is required
- Working knowledge of network protocols--specifically TCP/IP--is required
- Working knowledge of DNS and DHCP is required
- Experience with Storage Area Networks is desired
- Working knowledge of switches and routers is desired
- Knowledge of network monitoring and performance measuring tools is desired
- Scripting experience/knowledge of programming logic is desired
- Knowledge of hospital environments and applications is desired
- Experience with the GroupWise Messaging system is desired
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, IIS, and other Microsoft-specific technologies is desired
- Working knowledge of Novell Netware 5.x is desired
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or equivalent work experience is required
