Server Administrator

Phoenix Health Systems, Inc., a nationally recognized healthcare IT outsourcing and consulting company is currently seeking a Server Administrator to work at our client site in the Salem, OR metro area.
Summary:
Under general direction, configures, implements, and manages the on-going operations of numerous servers and a enterprise Storage Area Network (SAN); designs and configures both production and redundant servers, ensuring high-availability to all applications; integrates backup/restore operations with current and future SANs, and proactively manages the efficiency, reliability, and business continuity of all server infrastructure. Responsible for the implementation of updates and assists in the deployment of new technologies as required. Provides application and user support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Citrix Server administration; Application Packaging/Deployment
- Installs Windows and Unix-based servers and server software in clustered, highly-available environments
- Manages scalability, availability, and performance of numerous application servers
- Configures logical unit numbers (LUN) to optimize systems performance, backup and restore operations, and to maximize cost-effective utilization of resources
- Installs patches and upgrades to server hardware, firmware, and/or software
- Manages systems integration testing, load/stress testing, and user acceptance testing processes
- Assists with installation and upgrades to applications software
- Maintains virus protection agents on the network to insure application and user protection
- Maintains and monitors the network backup system to insure reliable network backups
- Provides communication and support to users, the Help Desk, and support groups
- Provides application and vendor support
- Acquires working knowledge of mission critical components of network environment
- Complies with reasonable requests to perform other duties
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Unix/Windows systems in a high-availability environment
- Working knowledge of network switches, routers, firewalls, and network protocols, monitoring
- Strong communication, organization, and management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
- Ability to maintain a persistent, dedicated, and "can-do" attitude despite setbacks
- Ability to collaborate easily and effectively with peers, management, and other team members
- Experience with server hardware platforms including configuration of hardware and peripherals
- Knowledge of hospital environments and applications is desirable
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience is required
- MCSE certification highly desirable
- Must have experience with UNIX and/or Microsoft Server/Desktop operating systems
- Working knowledge of Citrix XenApp Server, VMWare Vsphere, Microsoft Active Directory is required
